What Was I thinking?

Asif Zamir – another failed project

Okay, so once in a while you participate in a string of successful projects, and your brain becomes so clouded by this that you say, “hey, why not? Maybe this can work just like everything else.” There is nothing wrong with this kind of thinking, as long as your risk is managed properly. You know what you can afford to lose, and you act accordingly.

Here’s a great example of when this happened to me: in June of 2011, I came across this project. It’s a portable, simple kickstand, screen-wiper, and phone charm (because that’s what people want, they want phone charms… right, Asif?).

I understand that nobody likes a dirty phone screen, but what I do not understand is why I thought this would work out on a mass-consumer level. I wouldn’t personally buy one, but for some reason I put (a tiny amount of) money into this project, which quickly turned out to be nothing significant.
